his build is of the
Special Hobby ‘High
Tech’ release of their
Hawker Tempest V.
There are two versions of this
kit available, the standard
kit with all plastic parts
or the ‘High Tech’ release
that includes HGW fabric
harness, CMK resin details
including a ‘half’ Napier Sabre
engine, separate cowlings,
wheels and cockpit details.

COCKPIT
The cockpit is nicely detailed,
and the it is generally okay.
Some care needed and dry
itting recommended. The
instrument decals are an
interesting thing, as the
instructions tell you to apply

end. The resin extras supplied
with the ‘High Tech’ edition
of this kit add some really
nice details, although the kit
detail is completely perfect!
The inclusion of a HGW fabric
harness is a great touch,

resin parts were damaged on
arrival, so I had to do a hybrid
mix of resin and kit parts in
places, not a huge issue but
something to consider if you
choose this kit. However, most
of the amazing gets lost once
the fuselage is closed up!

up some panels to expose the
inner workings should you
see it, and the addition of
instrument wiring would be
a must in this case. This is an
option I’m considering on the
Tempest II build I plan to do
next. I have a resin Centaurus
engine coming for that, panels
open! The Napier Sabre engine
is superbly represented (well
half of it!) and builds into a
feature to the kit. The it was
