Scale Aviation Modeller International – September 2019

(Elle) #1

fuselage and wings separate
will ease the painting process.
The clear parts are then added
to the fuselage. Almost no
iller is needed on any of the
parts, just some sanding and
restoration of panel lines
using a Tamiya scribing tool.

PAINTING

All the glazing was masked
using Tamiya tape. Once this
is complete the framing is
painted with the interior colour.
Everything was then primed
with Vallejo Grey Primer using
an Iwata Neo airbrush. The
model was then pre-shaded
using Vallejo Model Air Black.
The underside grey is not
included in the Ammo set,
so I mix and spray it using
the colours suggested in the
instructions (67% - 75 grey,
33% - 05 White). The next step
is masking the grey areas and
spraying Ammo by Mig 228 on
the upper surfaces. Once all the
primary painting is complete
everything is coated with
Vallejo Gloss Polyurethane. The
decals were then applied and
performed well. Further gloss

is then applied. The underside
is given a panel wash using
Model Air Greens and Browns
thinned with water/alcohol.
This gives a distinctive dirty

water look, and then lying
controls are given a panel wash.
Paint chipping is added using
Ammo by Mig Zinc Chromate
and Revell Aqua Silver using

a sharpened cocktail stick.
Further details are added with
Tamiya weathering powders
for engine and oil staining. The
model is coated with Vallejo
Acrylic Resin Matt Varnish.
All the major components are
then inally assembled using
cyano glue. The antenna is
added using ishing line.

CONCLUSION
This kit, even with some
inaccuracies on the part of
the kit and on the part of
modeller still add up to an
enjoyable build. The it of all the
components was very good, and
this has led to a inal piece that
I am very pleased with. Thanks
to Revell for the review sample.
