Euro Decals

I

t is very unusual for two
sheets to be released for
the same kit 32 years after
its release. But Tamiya’s F-15C
has been a near permanent
addition to the catalogue
since it’s release in 1996 and
it certainly builds into an
impressive kit But the type
has never been that colourful
even when nose art has been
added during operations.
Well that changed in 2016
when the Oregon Air National
Guard celebrated it’s 75th
anniversary by painting a Strike
eagle in a very colourful scheme.
It is hard to say which is more
impressive the large Eagles
Head on the nose or the wings
on the wing and tail surfaces.
But it is actually the tail art,
which really impressed me most
with its large Fir tree and sword,
which has been beautifully
realised by Fantasy Printshop.
The decal sheet has been
printed on three A4 sheets

and smaller A6 sheet and
is supported by full colour
instruction sheet which clearly
shows where all the decals go.

1/32 SCALE
ED-32122 MCDONNELL DOUGLAS
F-15C OREGON ANG SPECIAL 2016

  • McDonnell Douglas F-15C 79-041
    of 173rd Fighter Wing, Oregon
    National Guard, United States Air
Force, based at Kingsley Field in
    Klamath Falls, Oregon, 2016.

CONCLUSION
A very attractive scheme
that reminds me a lot of the
“Chippy Ho” scheme applied
to an F/A-18 Hornet though
the tail art is far more striking
than the Nav y scheme.
A seriously impressive
decal sheet and I do hope
that Euro Decals consider
scaling this sheet down to
it the 1/48 scale Revell Kit.

Two Bobs Decals

M

y irst feature for
this magazine was a
Tamiya F-15E Strike
Eagle way back in 1996 Since
then the type has seen a lot of
operational service and the latest
sheet from Two Bob ‘s decals

deployed for operations from
an undisclosed location. During
their six month deployment from
RAF Lakenheath, which ended
in October 2018 the aircraft lew
over 2,100 missions and deployed
500 precision guided munitions.

CONCLUSION
How I wish this sheet had
been available when I built my
Tamiya Strike Eagle, although
sadly though Tamiya released
a kit with some modern air to
ground munitions they never
carried out a full update which
would need the sniper pod and
various lumps and bumps that
have been added to the airframe
over the last twenty years.
In the smaller scale it
was a similar story until
Revell and Great Wall
released their Beagles
(Bomb + Eagle = Beagle).

for the review sample that
in the UK can be purchased
from Hannants or direct
