for young people with physical disabilities and
additional sensory needs. It has now become the
first school in the UK to schedule gaming classes and
use specialcontrollers to help its pupils develop their
physical andcommunication skills, while having fun
with their friends.
The XboxAdaptiveControllerwasdesigned by
Microsoft, the maker of the XboxOne console, to help
people with limited mobility to play games. Itcan

connect buttons, switches and joystickstogether with
the assistive devices used by people with physical
disabilities, so that theycanplay.
Peggle 2and Scribblenauts Showdown aretwo
of the games being used in lessons. It is hoped other
schools will create the same classes.“It’sabout
learning the social skills:theresilience, losing and
winning, all of those things that actually haveahuge
impact on therest of your life,”headteacher Francis
Gonzalez told the BBC, when it visited the school.
