Pacific Dragon Boat Festival. Founded
by Milton Wong and David Lam, the
festival has grown to become one
of the city's top sporting events of
the summer. Prior to the big meet,
several hundred guests filled D6 Bar &
Lounge at Parq Vancouver to support
the three-day regatta and raise funds
for the Milton Wong Legacy Project.
Named in honour of the festival founder,
the charity is dedicated to ensuring
underserved youth have opportunities
to enjoy recreational sports, including
dragon boating. The evening of food,
drink and philanthropy fronted by
Peter Wong and Alvin Cheung aimed to
raise $100,000.

The Pipe Shop in North Vancouver
played host to this year’s U.S.
Independence Day festivities. Fronted by
U.S. Consul General Katherine Dhanani,
the diplomat welcomed several hundred
guests who took in the popular Fourth
of July party at the waterfront venue.
Tradition saw members of Chor Leoni
sing both anthems, led by Portland-

based choir director Erick Lichte.
Lichte and the singing lions had much to
sing about, just off the heels of receiving
the Margaret Hillis Award for Choral
Excellence, North America’s most
prestigious choral award given
by the professional association
Chorus America.
