ONE OF MY FAVORITE TIMES OF YEAR IS


HERE, and I am all about it. I can’t get enough of
autumn’s abundance of produce, family tailgates,
and the tasty seasonal recipes I return to year
after year. I love bringing the harvest season to
my kitchen, so I’ve fi lled this issue with recipes
brimming with fall fl avor.
Some of my go-to ingredients are sweet
potatoes, and I incorporate them into my cooking
and baking every which way. From breakfast
goodies to one-dish dinners to desserts, the recipes
starting on page 29 will hit the spot morning,
noon, and night. Cinnamon is another versatile
ingredient I love, especially in autumn, because of
the rich warmth it brings, and your family will be
asking for seconds of the decadent treats starring
this sweet spice, beginning on page 57.
October’s cooler weather makes me want to
gather my loved ones for a cozy family meal, too, so
I’m sharing some of my heartiest menus ever. For
good old-fashioned country cooking, try the fried
chicken and all the tasty fi xin’s on pages 37–42, and
put a pot on the stove for the soups and stews of
all kinds starting on page 43. Because I love pasta
so much, I even created a menu that makes this
beloved ingredient the star of the show (pages 23–
28), and whether you eat them all together or pick
just one to try, they’re sure to be crowd-pleasers.
From creative takes on cornbread (pages 51–56)
and classic chicken pot pie (page 79) to Bobby’s
modern spin on pizza night (pages 69–71) and
Jamie’s mash-ups of his family’s favorite dishes
(pages 65–67), this issue has something yummy
and fun for everyone. I hope this autumnal fare
