Durban
durban’s most famous stretch – Florida
road – just got an art-filled update thanks
to cape town-based designer robert
sherwood, who converted a former
parking lot into the city’s coolest new
’hood. ‘Florida Fields is the culmination
of two years of planning and is an
important part of our wider plan to
transform Florida road into the most
exciting, vibrant and diverse high street
in the country,’ explains Jonny Friedman
of urban regeneration specialists urban
Lime, who collaborated with robert’s
studio on the project that today features
outdoor sculptures, fountains and shaded
gardens. there’s also no lack in the food
department, with everything from house
of bravo, a no-waste organic grocer, to
Joburg import paul’s Ice cream and
bohemian beach bumz, an eatery
offering cannabis-infused fare.
