Kelling Heath is set among 300acres
of woodland and rare open heathland
within anArea of Outsta nding Natural
Beauty. The site is also close to the
coast at Weybourne. Cycle routes
are in abundance here and Kelling
Heath offers a cycle hire se rvice alon g
with informationon awide choice of
routes suited to al l abilities. You ca n
cycle thro ugh the heathlan d to the
coast, passing thro ugh pretty towns
and villa ges. You can even cycle in to
beautifulSheringham Park, too.
The ca mpsite has a choice of
pitch styles from hardstanding with
electric to fully serviced with electric,
water, waste andTV connection.
There is an abundance of facilities on
site including toilets and showers, a
laundry, restaurant andbar, tennis
courts and adventure playgrounds.
There’s also a health and fitness club
with indo or pool, sauna, steamroom
and gym. In the warmer weather you
can enjoy the ou tdoor pool or a game
of table tennis andboules.

Kielder Water andForest Park is
home to the biggest man-made lake
in Northern Europe and the largest
working forest in England – there’s
over 250 square miles of it. There
are three visitor centres around
the lake with various carparks and
café facilities. There is an art and
architecturetrail that follows the
26-mile walking andcycling route
around the reservoir and there are
also mountain bike trails thro ugh
the fo rest.
Kielder Village Campsite is a
remote, get-away-from-it-all site

nestled in the heart of Kielder
Forest. There is no mobile phone
signal at al l and WiFi is limited to
a small areanear the site office.
There are hardstanding pitches with
electric, toilets andshowe rs a nd a
laundry. Kielder villa ge is a five-
minute wa lk away with a pub,tea
room and bike hire (both electric
and mountain bikes) available.
The campsite is at the centre of
a Dark Sky Park – meaning there’s
no light pollution, andit’s within a
short dri ve or a n hour’s walk of the
famed Kielder Observatory.

Running alongthe stunning
Mawddach Estuary, on the disused
railway line from Barmouth to
Dolgellau, the Mawddach Trail is
totally flat and car-free. Its full len gth
is just over nine miles with various
points that you canget on and off at.
But, if you stay at Hendre Mynach
you canstart from Barmouth Bridge
and do a 6½-mile run to the George
III pubon the ou tskirts of Dolgellau.
After resting and refue lling here you
can head back toBarmouth.

Hendre Mynach is located
100 metres from the beach anda
25-minute stroll (or shorter bike
ride) fr om Barmouth town centre.
Hardstanding and grass pitches
with electric are available alongwith
toilets and showers, a laundry, shop
and WiFi. Pets are welc ome, too. The
site is two miles fr om the start of the
trail. Cyclealon g the seafrontthen
inland ontothe A496. Climbthe hill
out of town until you seethe sign on
the ri ght, signed BarmouthBridge.
