There wasno aerial point or socket

for a TV but, if retro-fitting, the TV

would be wall-mounted above the

nearside rear seat.

To make the bed s, the rear seats

move fo rwards, which is an acquired

knack. Reach through a hole in the

side of the seat, unscrew anunseen

ca tch andrelease the seatto slide

forwardhalf-way; then find the ca tch

inside and release this to complete the

job. It’s a potentialthumbnai l-breaker ,

but becomes ea sier with practice and

returning it to seatmode is simple

• ju st give the seat ahearty shove
  backwards until it clicks home.
  Next, slide the backrest cushions
  off their frames and lay them down,
  insert a large in fill cu shion at the
  top of each bed (unfor tunately, these
  cushions occupy most ofthe space

We both approved of the all-round
mudflaps, Devon-branded wheeltrims,
the standard spare wheel andthe large
(25-litre) underslung gas tank – much
more economical and space-saving
than cylinders.
Movinginside, thro ugh the sliding
door andvia a large, automatically
retracting step, the nearside seat has
an integral storage box fo otrest, butit
still le aves an a isle around 50cmwide
curvingtowards the rear andwith a
full 1.90mheadroom. The raised area
between the cab seats and offside rear
seat has considerably less headroom,
but you’ll only be sitting here.
Décor has changed fr om Devon’s
traditional tan beech woodwork to a
muchmore modern warmoak, called
Bardolino, which has suddenly burst
ontothe British motorhome scene.
Used by several converters, they all
remark on how robust it is. Here, it
goes well with the upholstery – a high-

qual ity tweed with cab seats covered

to match. The table andwork surfaces

are asmooth glos sy white with

random sil very chips – easy on the eye

and easily cleaned.

The lounge has two large top-

hinged windows with concertina

blin ds and flyscreen s and a medium-

sized skylight, pl us fourceiling LED

light clusters, two more over the ca b

seats andthree adjustablereading

lights. There areno cab curtains, ju st

internal insulated sc reens.

In practice, the lounge works pretty

well, with comfortable seatin g and

the wa ll-mountedtable sited between

the dr iver’s seat andrear offside seat.

Our main reservationis the fo otrests

on the nearside – the cab seathas

a very narrow section of plin th on

which to rest your heels, whilst the

rear travel seat’s dedicated footrest

doesn’t extend far enough forward

for a period of relaxed lounging. But
