Q

Do you struggle to
see your dials?
I’ve got oneof the new white dial fa ce
replacements for our 2016Swift. I found,
even with the lights on, the speedo
readings did not stand out when I was
driving at more than 30mph.
So, I pulled the dash out, cutthe old
panelsout without removing needles.
Then I put a cutacross the new one and
slid back underthe needles andinto
place. In all it took me about half-an-
hour from start tofinish.
I must say thatnow, while driving, it
is easier to seewhere the needle is on the
speedo even when wearing sunglasses.
The dial fa ces were from Lockwood and
cost £57.45 including postage.

Over the last couple of weeks, while we
were tou ring onholiday in France, my
Sony DAB radio could not lo cate any
British stations.
In the end,we had torely on my
smartphone’s iPlayer app to listen toRadio
4 and 6Music.
This is our first motorhome (pre-
owned) and, asfar as Iknow, the radio
only has awindscreen aerial, but I have
a sneaki ng suspicion thatin order to
replicate the reception thatI get via the
smartphone I would need a much more
complicated set-up.
Could you plea se advise?
Ken Octon

Your digital radio cannotreceive UK
stations abroad as DAB radio uses
land-based transmission and signals from
the UK do not reach othercountries.
You canlisten to most of BBC radio on
the BBC Soundsor iPlayer apps and also
downloadmost podcasts from them.
From most parts of France, satellite
TV still works forUK channels andsome
radio broadcasts can be foundvia satellite
if you ha ve this facility.
You could also stream programmes via
the internet – seethe feat ure on page 178
for more.
Clive Mott

Thanks, I’ll stick with using my mobile as a
radio source when o n the Continent.
