Our drive is a bittight and, reversing
the motorhomein, Imust have
touched oneof the concrete fence
posts with the offsiderearwindow,
puttinga six-inchsetof deep
scratchesalong the middleof it. I’ve
been too upsettomention it earlier.
Browsingthrough the local
Halfords, I cameacross a promising-
lookingrepair kit fromAutoglym.
The kit is actually forrenovating
road-blasted plastic headlights, but
I thought I’d giveit a go onmypoor
window. The kit costs around £27
andcontainseverything youneedto

Followingthe kit instructions
carefully, I tookmytime withmyfirst
effort, but Ireckon you could repair a
badly scratched windowin about 30
minutestopswitha bitof practice.
This wouldalsoincluderemoving
anysurface scratches causedbythose
inevitable treebranches.
I reckonthe kit would begoodfor
another fivesimilar-sized windows, ie
the wholemotorhome.

Tomake the
Dometic window
easier to repair it
needs to be removed.
Start on the insideby
unscrewing theTorx
screws holding on the
catches and stays
3
Outside, lift the window up to
expose the endcap screw – this
needs to be removedbyusing a
Pozidrive screwdriver
4
After undoing this screw,the whole
window can be slid out along
its sliding hinge and removed from
the vehicle
5
Slide the window out of the
top channel until the whole
unit is freed – put it down on a
soft cloth on your workbench
