AQUAMAN

Name: Chor Hwee
Cars: 1967 Countryman
Location: Singapore

Q Chor bought his 1967
Countryman in 2015 and restored it
soon after. The resto involved
doing up the interior, as well as
some major work to the body. He
recently drove the Countryman
from Singapore to Shangri-La,
Yunnan China and back to
Singapore – an 11000 km round
trip! In order to reach China, he had
to drive through Malaysia, Thailand
and Laos. He met friends and they
spent 12 days driving through
China. The entire trip took a month.
Chor still owns his first car, a 1971
Austin Mini that he bought in 1997.
Chor will be visiting IMM2019 and
hopes to see many of you there.

Name: Derek R Fletcher
Car: 1986 Mini City
Location: Abergele

QDerek’s son bought the car
initially and they replaced the
shell together. They took it to a
Mini restorer in Wrexham to sort
the paint job (it was blue at the
time) and replace some of the
panels. They did a safety check on
the body welding while it was
there and it failed. Derek took it to
M&Ms in Warrington, and left it
there with all the parts, running
gear and fittings and when it
came back it was a completely
refurbished car with a repaint in
British Racing Green. Derek’s son
was over the moon with it, but
after a couple of years decided to
sell it to his dad. Derek has had the
car for 5 years now and since he
has owned it has resprayed it
Aquamarine. Derek has also
replaced the front and back
brakes, headlights, seats, carpets,
door cards and chrome fittings.

IN YOUR LITTLE SHANGRI-LA...

Hard to imagine that the
Mini was once condemned
for the state of its bodywork.

Latest colour is Aquamarine.
