there is nothing more engaging than
being behind the wheel of a Mini.”
Over the years, the Mini has appeared
on Mike’s TV show numerous times.
They famously did the 50th anniversary
Mini, a MkI Mini and a Mini Moke.
“More recently when I was in the States
we did an early BMW MINI, which is
now considered by most to be a modern
classic. I chose one in particular, the
MC40 - which is the anniversary of the
Monte Carlo winning 40th anniversary
Mini - specifically because it is super
charged. I think it has the spirit of the

original Monte Carlo winning car that
Paddy Hopkirk drove, in red with a white
top. I know that many people out there
don’t particularly favour the new MINI,
but I do. I think it’s a really great car and
I loved putting it into the show. Driving
the new MINI MC40 reignited this
passion inside me to get the car that I had
always wanted.”

LIVE THE DREAM
Mike’s new series Dream Car is a spin off
of Wheeler Dealers in which Mike helps
car enthusiasts to trade up their current

Jaguar E-Type but I’ve always said the
same answer... a 1964 Mini Cooper S.”

Since Mike’s passion has reignited, he
has never really had the chance to find
one. They often seem to go for ridiculous
money and the ones that do crop up seem
to get snapped up in a heartbeat.
However, by luck or by chance Mike and
his crew were filming Dream Car when a
farmer’s auction popped up less than half
a mile down the road. They had a
combine harvester, a Massey Ferguson
tractor... and a Mini Cooper S from 1964
whose former owner of 30 years had
looked after it well. Mike sent along a
mechanic, to check it out for him. “I
knew that if I went along people would
bid against me, just because people want
to bid against Mike Brewer. The
mechanic, Richard, checked it out and
said it was a solid car with a good
foundation. We did notice that it had
some anomalies but to be honest with you
that didn’t really bother me. It’s what

You’ll never see a man happier...

Mike prefers the look of the
4.5 inch reverse rim wheels.
He also loves what they do
for the handling...
