(Chris Devlin) #1
engine, wheels and brakes are all in really
good order, so Mike is intending to keep
them all and just change the one element
that has already been changed in the past.
“I’m just going for a nice solid shell and
the reason is... I’m going to keep it
forever and I don’t care what people think
about it being reshelled. I couldn’t care
less. It’s what it means to me! I like my
classics to be driveable, usable cars that I
can use all the time.”
“I’ve got a storage unit where I keep my
cars but little Frankie is not in my storage
unit, Frankie is at home with me and I’m
looking forward to going on this journey
with Frankie. I aim to tell the story as it
unfolds, we’ll find out more about it as we
work on it. It might have some sort of
funky, clever, smart history. It might have
been an experimental car for all we know.
It might have belonged to someone
important, hence the important interior.
We simply don’t know!”
“A bit like an archaeologist digging
away at the top soil, as we get to the layers
underneath we’ll find out a bit more
about Frankie’s story. It’s a pleasure and
an honour to own the little car, it really is.
I’m loving it. Right from this moment,
I’m in love with it.”

Heritage certificate says the car
was originally Almond Green,
but Mike’s plans are for Tartan
Red with Black roof.

New Dunlop rubber has been fitted all round.

Boot features the correct pop
rivetted brackets for the boot board.
