t’s Round 3 and these folks are already
halfway through the racing season. This
round was sponsored by Brands Hatch
Performance and attended by 17 racers, some of
whom were racing for the first time this year.
Starting the day in 15th place overall was Jane
McCready in her stunning Clueless Racing
Pinto-powered Mk4 Escort van. Jane, who also
races successfully in the Sportsman ET class ran
a respectable 15.5-second run and pushed
herself up into 13th place overall.
Magenta Wright in her Mk1 Fiesta had some
catching up to do as she wasn’t able to make
Round 2, however, with a shot of gas on the
standard 1.1 Valencia engine she pushed herself
to a round win with a time of 16.93 seconds.
Second place at this round went to Rob White in
his awesome 383ci V8-powered 100E. This car
was flying and with a personal best (PB) of 12.2 it
places Rob in second place in the overall
challenge. The last of the top three places went
to local man, Oakley Sciara in his standard
looking Mk2 Escort. Oakley, a telecoms engineer,
has been racing for a while in the OSFDC but this
is his first top three placing. Ending the day with
a 14.00 from the ST170 powerplant, his next
challenge is to break into the 13s.
With the sweet smell of burning rubber still
lingering in their nostrils, the racers will be back
at Santa Pod in just one week for Round 4.
