The Cernunnos^ operates^ in^ a^ true^ ‘if^

you build^ it,^ they^ will^ come’^ fashion

But, like so many, the Cernunnos operates in a true
‘if you build it, they will come’ fashion and they did
come. Slowly at first, then at an increasingly steady
pace which kept me busy with a variety of machines
of which there was many. Among those that really
caught my eye was a CCM Spitfire I had seen at the
Motorcycle Live show last year, a really good looking
bike, and British built, too, and a Vespa scooter
named Betty with a hand-painted ‘Wanna Ride’
Bettie Page paint job, an engine which is a flowed
and ported Malossi 166cc motor with reed valve and
a VIN plate that reads Batmobile, Jet Turbine, with
330mph top speed and 1750lb/ft of torque. Despite
the owner looking like an honest sort of person, I
believe may have been a slight exaggeration. A 1979
864cc Ducati custom won pretty much everything—
Best Custom, Best Classic, Best Engineering and
Landlord’s Choice—including admiring glances from
everyone, including me, which is clearly worth more
than any trophy!p
