There were no winners nor losers, no prizes nor garlands—just take-
away sandy smiles and gritty grins.
This type of event is an outpost for counter-culture expression,
non-conformity and anarchic individualism. My fellow
thrillseekers yearn for these moments. It is a chance to be different,
slightly seditious and rebellious. Race the Waves is organised
by an energetic, brave and courageous small group of visionary
entrepreneurs. They are motivated by the will to create a spectacle
on their home patch which celebrates the combustion engine and
creates a playground for enthusiasts to show off and batter their
automotive creations.
In years to come the event may meld into the mainstream and be
swallowed by a tsunami of commercial greed and consumption.
However, for now, it is fresh, raw and original. Paul and the gang
have held back the tide and pulled it off again. I doff my cap.p
