Then it was bodywork, paint
and a little imagination and it
was done. Except it’s not finished
because they never are! I built this
trike about eight years ago and,
seeing as I’m not a professional
builder, what I created is an
absolute joy to me and I love
to ride it. I’ve built other trikes
since; you will have seen the
4.4l V8 BMW, Hulk, which was
featured in this very magazine in
issue #245. But the Zephyr is, and
always will be, my favourite.

so much better.
Then for the rear wheels...
Personally, I like to see front
and rear wheels the same size,
if not similar. After looking at
the front disc pattern, I had
found a set of old 13-inch wheels
that were practically identical
in pattern, but too small by far
as I wanted much bigger tyres
on the back. So it was off to
the scrapyard and, after some
foraging around, I returned with
a pair of 15-inch rims. I set about
cutting and welding to make
12-inch by 15-inch rims to enable
