100% Biker – August 2019

in their bike raffle. They had put a lot of effort into restoring a Honda
CB350S; Diane was the lucky winner and she couldn’t stop shaking all
night at her good fortune. She couldn’t get her head round the fact she had
won a bike and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.
Highlights of Saturday’s live entertainment for me started with
our opening band Supercell, three lads from Castleford who played a
polished set of covers. They then helped out the next band, Mullet by
lending them their amps—Mullet repaid this with a stonker of a set of
their own songs that were all about mullets, the haircut that will not die.
Purple Zebras played a cracking set of heavy stuff from the likes of
Slipknot, System of a Down and Rage Against The Machine and Full
Tilt followed that with an excellent choice of covers from AC/DC, Guns
n Roses and Whitesnake. Headlining was the wonderful T Bone, fronted
by T Bone Jones, the dear friend I mentioned at the beginning of this
article. T Bone has been supporting the NABD for many years and I
couldn’t refuse when given a chance to support him. T Bone played a
worthy headline set and with some pyrotechnics to round off their set
and end a great day.
The Manchester Rock and Bike Fest was a thoroughly splendid event
and the only thing to put a dampener on the weekend was the rain that
fell on Sunday morning as folks were waking up. But we had three days
of decent weather so I can’t really complain—this is the North West of
England and we are used to a bit of rain now and then. Thanks to the
Hells Angels MC and the Red Devils MC for hosting the event and to
Stormy, Sam and Ged for letting me and Sean loose on their excellent
stage, PA and lighting rig, it was very much appreciated. Now then, as I
toddle off into retirement once more, where did I leave my slippers?p
