A few basic modifications
and weathering techniques
keep the memory of a beloved
’94 Camaro alive
to keep it, but the investment to
restore it was prohibitive.
In 2014, while parked in front of
our house, someone accidentally ran
into the Camaro’s rear end. Another
driver backed into its front on
Christmas Eve later that year. The
insurance money wouldn’t have
covered all the repairs, so I replaced
the lights, straightened most of the
body damage, and drove it until
2018 when I sold it to a friend. He
pulled the engine and drivetrain for
another project.
I loved that Camaro, and I
thought it fitting to build a model of
it as it appeared just before I sold it,
blemishes and all.
I began with a 1/25 scale
Monogram ’93 Camaro Z28
Indianapolis 500 Pace Car kit. It
cleaned up like any other model —
minor mold seams and blemishes.
Additionally, I removed the badging
