McGregor: kitted out for voiceover

Getting ahead with a hat
Maramedia’s Wild Shetland:
Scotland’s Viking Frontier should
make quite a splash for BBC2 when
it airs on 31 August – and not just
because it features unprecedented
footage of the world’s smallest
seabird (the storm petrel) and an
orca pod hunting a harbour seal.
The indie secured Ewan McGregor
to provide the suitably Caledonian
voiceover, and got him in the mood
for recording by providing a hat
handknitted on Shetland’s Fair
Isle. Presumably they set the
studio air con to 4°C and simu-
lated horizontal rain, too.

Fresh from the recent double recommission of
Yesterday series Bangers & Cash, Air TV put 10 of its
staff through their paces in a Tough Mudder challenge.
Dubbed the Airheads, the team battled thick mud,
running water and electricity at the gruelling
course in Skipton. The indie promises a bigger staff
turnout in 2020 – could imminent local arrivals at
Channel 4 be persuaded to fi eld a rival team?

First time in ages I’ve listened
to the Today programme and
Humphrys sneering at media
studies degrees reminds me to
switch off again for a month or so.

@KathyBurke sat at home in
my PJs, glass of wine, no
make-up and totally feeling
myself. Thanks Kath.

Have watched all of
#ThisWayUp from the
amazing @WeeMissBea
@HelloMerman & @Channel4
and I have to say the whole
thing is a masterclass in
nuanced, devastating hilarity. I
laughed & wept aplenty. Ep 4 is
one of the fi nest half hours of
TV I’ve ever seen. Binge now.
