A native and self-described “Miami history
nerd,” Urrutia is dedicated to spreading the
word about Magic City and its cocktails.
When not at work as the single-malts
ambassador for Bacardi, he runs drinks
consultancy Drinkable Miami and organizes
Drink Miami Hostel, an annual cocktail
event going into its fi ft h year at the
historic Freehand Miami hotel. In addition,
Urrutia is the author of the new book
Miami Cocktails (Cider Mill Press, 2019),
and is co-authoring another with veteran
mixologist and fellow Miami resident Julio
Cabrera that focuses on the history and
infl uence of Cuban cocktail culture.
