Keeping it fresh
Bailey, an established comedian and cohost of
the “Drinking Partners Podcast” with Day Bracey,
not only entertains, but educates. Aft er Mike
Potter, founder of Black Brew Culture, discussed
the underrepresentation of African-Americans in
the craft beer industry on their podcast, the three
created Fresh Fest, a festival to provide public
promotion, action, access and education. They aim
to bring interest and investment from outside the
Pittsburgh area, as well as encourage all breweries
to employ more people of color.

Day drinking
In a tale as old as time, Bracey’s introduction to
beer was $1 Blue Moons with a signature orange
garnish to feel fancy. Inspired by the camara-
derie in the beer industry, he teamed with fellow
comedian Ed Bailey in 2014 to create the “Drinking
Partners Podcast.” The series engages with a
range of guests, including artists, entrepreneurs,
activists, politicians and, of course, brewers, to
serve up serious laughs while they chat and enjoy
some of the best craft beers in the country. Or, as
Day succinctly puts it, “I drink and talk shit.” He also
cofounded Fresh Fest, one of the nation’s fi rst beer
festivals that features black-owned breweries.
