QSo far, Griffith has done an admirable job

of continuing and wrapping up stories kicked

off by Young. The J.T. saga was a suspense-

ful tale that concluded with a nail-biting and

satisfying payoff (he’s still alive, Nikki’s not

a killer). Likewise, the Abbott family had

been torn asunder, but that worked as a nifty

plot device to compel Jack to finally accept

Restless

Head Writer Mal Young’s exit last December. The show is now under the
creative auspices of EP Anthony Morina and HW Josh Griffith, both of
whom have deep ties to Genoa City and who have expressed their mis-
sion to pattern today’s Y&R after the original blueprint of its late creator,
William J. Bell. With that in mind, here’s a look at what’s working, what
isn’t and what needs attention.

Ashley as his corporate equal, aligning the

siblings in a promising new partnership. It’s

also heartening to see the fractured Newmans

united again in light of Victor’s battle with

a potentially deadly blood disease. As the

patriarch deals with the side effects of his

treatments, namely fatigue and forgetfulness,

his vulnerability has strengthened his marriage

to Nikki and made his children more resilient.

Bringing back the character of Adam,

now played by promising daytime newcomer
