only sporadically, so Lily
was sent to prison for
vehicular homicide. She’s
since been sprung, but life
behind bars changed her,
so it then made sense that
Mr. and Mrs. Ashby split
for good. In order not to
romance for Cane, he was given an
obvious place-holder story involving
Traci’s latest book and her harmless
crush on him. The plot was lightheart-
ed fun, and they emerged as stronger
friends, but now it’s time for Cane to
find his next love connection (perhaps
another go with Victoria if Billy is dis-
■Although Adam was sorely missed, his reintegration
happened too quickly and didn’t give viewers a chance to
adjust to another actor in the role. A lot of important beats
in the story were skipped over; instead of Victor reveal-
ing to Sharon how he found Adam, we wish we could have
seen that play out for a few weeks before the prodigal black
sheep returned to Genoa City — and, to raise the stakes of
the return of his memory, we could have used more of the
kinder, gentler Adam for contrast. As a consequence of this
rush, Adam’s reignited penchant for doing very bad things is
too much, too soon. We need to see a softer side of Adam to
round out the character — and connect with the version fans
remember him evolving into during his last go-round. And
while he and Sharon do share a memorable history, her mag-
netic pull to him rings hollow because they had so clearly
moved on with other people before he was presumed dead
