The second attraction is the
Kadishi Tufa Waterfall. This
waterfall is the second highest
Tufa waterfall in the world
and is also known as the
‘weeping face of nature’ due
to the waterfall personifying
a weeping face.
Take into consideration that
the Blyde Canyon borders
multiple game lodges, so rather
avoid the viewpoints at night as
leopard are known to frequent
these spots. This is a real safety
tip, not a scare tactic.

“It’s faster to jump down,

but a light walk never

hurt anyone”

we turned into a place called
Graskop Lift Co. To our
surprise, we were going to
tackle the gorge swing. Not
everyone was ready and willing
to partake in this surprise,
which left only a few brave
souls to take the plunge.
After seeing others leap into
the gorge, we went for lunch,
preceded by a group trip into
the gorge, known as The Forest.
It’s faster to jump down but a
light walk never hurt anyone,
unlike suddenly coming to a
splattering halt as gravity proves
its dominance...
The Graskop Gorge is a 51m
drop from the top, into the
Afromontane forest. In South
Africa, Afromontane forests
cover only 0.5% of the country’s
land area. They occur in pockets
along mountain ranges in well-
watered areas, including ravines
and south-facing slopes.
We headed off to our last
night’s accommodation, the
Graskop Hotel. When you do
the Panorama route this is a
must-stay spot. The staff are
hilarious, almost something out
of a TV show.

JUST DRIVE
In conclusion, Haval has
survived another year in South
Africa, giving South Africans
the opportunity to experience
the lifestyle their vehicles allow.
Simply put, the Panorama Route
wouldn’t have been the same
without them.
Haval’s growth in this
country will probably be
studied by business students
in the years to come. To come
from nowhere two years ago,
to the verge of selling 1 000
units per month is an almost
unbelievable achievement.
It’s hard to level any
reasonable criticism against
these vehicles, especially given
their reasonably pricing. Some
of the older models are still a
little rough around the edges
but the modern products are
properly good. Not good
for Chinese vehicles. Good...
full stop.

THE FINAL DROP
Day four and our last day of
activities. It started with
another incredible sunrise
photography mission. This time
we took the H9 and H6C out for
some snaps. The level of luxury
and specification found within
these vehicles has been well
recorded in previous issues but
you can’t help but be impressed
every time.
We drove the twisty roads
back to Graskop but instead of
heading all the way through,
