Adopting photography as your hobby

can be one of the most rewarding things

you ever do. But be prepared to say

goodbye to your disposable income.

YOU’RE BROKE

A

H, PHOTOGRAPHY.
That legal drug we all
dabble in from time
to time. And like
other drugs, it can be
addictive. You start off buying your first
DSLR camera and pretty soon you’re
adding lenses. Then, just as you’re
feeling pretty smug about yourself, you
spot someone unpacking their gear
from a beaut of a camera bag, sporting
an incredible camera strap, using God’s
gift to tripods. You turn slightly green.
Then you see someone’s photos on
Facebook and ask, subtly you think,
how they got the light quite so and
discover they were using a polarising
filter and a flash diffuser. You stare,
mouth open and pretty soon you
start to resemble Homer when he
spots doughnuts.
Well, this month, instead of helping,
we’re going to make things worse. Here
are a few products you might not have
heard of that you’ll need to feed your
photography addiction.

  1. BADGER GEAR
    SNUGGFIT BEAN BAG
If you’re not a big fan of that
    ‘fingers down a chalkboard’ sound,
    there’s a good chance you’re not
going to like that ‘camera lens
    on the window’ noise either.
    Balancing a massive camera lens
on the window for an extended
    period can be uncomfortable.
That’s why they brought out the
    Badger Gear Snuggfit Bean Bag.
This product makes light work of
handling camera lenses as it fits
over the window sill of a vehicle,
allowing you to get those great
pics on safari from the comfort of
your seat. It’s not just for the car,
though, you can use it in the hide
or rest your camera on it as you lie
    on the ground.
The bag is filled with plastic
    pellets weighing approximately
8kg. You can purchase it filled or,
for R100 less, unfilled (which we’d
recommend as you can always buy
rice to fill it or stuff a jacket in it.

Price: R500 (filled) or
R400 (unfilled)
