Not many Teihol Tangaras made it to the UK, so
this is a rare sight here. It’s not that common a
sight in France, either...
CITROËN CELEBRATION
Two Lomaxes and a Blackjack Avion do their best to shelter from the rain.
The Triumph based Burlington Arrow was
once a popular kit, so there are still quite a
few survivors around.
Four-wheeled Lambda was Lomax’s more
upmarket offering during its 1990s heyday.
It was, of course, still based on the 2CV.
Dellow was a popular trials car in the 1950s, and
you still see a fair number of them today... they
were built tough and have survived well.
Two levels of practicality here... 2CV van
lines up with a Lomax 223. which would
you take?
Getting away from the Citroën theme is this
rat look Beetle tow truck. We’re not sure if it’s
ever seen service.
The Manx hides its 2CV base under its square
styling. It’s quite a rarity, but this one is a regular
on the show scene.
Citroëns of all shapes and sizes descended on Coventry’s city streets,
joining other classics, as the quirky marque celebrates 100 years at MotoFest.

THE DETAILS
Why should I be there? Early June’s annual
MotoFest Coventry was an event of two halves;
bright sunshine on the Saturday with the historic
city centre turned over to cars and motorcycles
of all types, and grey skies and wet conditions on
the Sunday, when the free event’s focus shifted to
the main UK-based centenary celebrations for the
revered French Citroën marque.
Neatly littering the busy streets of Coventry’s city
centre were a wealth of classic cars and clubs, kits
included. The local Cobra 427 club put on a fine
display, supported by various other self-assembly
cars dotted around Coventry’s main shopping
streets. Highlights included a rare Triumph-based
Burlington Arrow, a characterful Scamp, Robin
Hood, Marcos Mantula, a 1950s Dellow trials car, a
lovely Riley-based special and an intriguing home-
made VW Beetle pick-up.
On the Sunday a large convoy of Citroëns
paraded around Coventry, many staying just up the
road at Coombe Abbey over the weekend to toast
the cult marque’s centenary. Joining plentiful 2CV,
DS, SM, CX, Traction Avant and other models
on the Coventry streets were plenty of kit car-
like Meharis, plus various Citroën-based kits and
specials. Inevitably Lomax three- and four-wheelers
dominated the 2CV-based kit celebrations, with
Pembletons, a Blackjack Avion, rare Manx and even
a scarce Teihol Tangara also on hand to join in the
festivities, despite Sunday’s rain!
