Few kit car manufacturers this year, but Westfield
was present – with Chesil. Its takeover of the
Porsche replica maker was announced at the event.
Not a kit car, but a bodykit of sorts. The Nissan GTR
based Italdesign GT-R50 has a limited production
run of 50 cars priced at almost £900k each. Gulp!
Westfield Eleven on the club stand is a reminder
that Chesil isn’t the company’s first foray into the
classic replica market.
You don’t have to own a yellow car to be a member
of KitNet... but it helps! One of many kit car clubs to
take a pitch at Silverstone Classic.
A particularly tidy GBS Zero lines up with NWKCOG
organiser Trevor Harmer’s Tiger Super Six in the
background. Not the colour-matched ‘weather gear’!
GBS Zero was part of Yokohama’s display. It’s
finished in Chelsea football colours (we’re told!),
and Yokohama is the team’s title sponsor.
...and he also provided showgoers with some
reading material in the form of the two-part
story in Complete Kit Car!
The Cobra Replica Club was out in force at
the Silverstone Classic... this is just part of the
line-up of V8 roadsters.
A couple of early arrivals on the GTM Owners’ Club
stand... there’s usually a sizeable line-up of Libras at
the Silverstone Classic.
Gary Tipping’s pre-lit Westfield, featured earlier this
year, had a for sale sign in the windscreen. We can’t
see it being too difficult to tempt someone...
There was some great period detailing on
this RAM Cobra replica which made it stand
out from the crowd.
One of the things that creates a wonderfully inclusive atmosphere at the Silverstone Classic is the fact
that owners’ clubs are welcomed into the venue and form part of the display. The NWKCOG (pictured
above) is one of many clubs that takes a pitch, but you’ll find many kit car clubs around the venue.
