T

he Penta has been the most
popular caravan in the Jurgens
range for several years, and now
the manufacturer has launched the
latest version. And it’s not simply a case of new
stickers and different upholstery.
The new Penta has been completely
redesigned from the wheels up, says Jurgens
Campworld’s Jurgen Adler. “In fact, not a single
fibreglass mould corresponds to any of our
existing caravans,” he continues. Jurgen has
been working on the new caravan for a year
and says they decided to overhaul the Penta
because it is so popular.
To preserve the Penta genes while
improving the model, Jurgen says he kept
a number of specific features in mind: the
dinette area remains at the nose to the left
of the door as you get in. Next is the full-size
fridge and then the island bed in the back. The
big difference is the kitchen that used to be
inside, in the middle of the caravan against the
right panel. The kitchen area is now moving

out, a first for the Jurgens range. Gas is a thing
of the past and the new Penta now relies
entirely on 220 V power in the campsite.
The dinette in front is more rounded, Jurgen
says, so it can accommodate more people, and
the upholstery is now multi-purpose. It has a
fabric side and a faux leather side. The material
is for ordinary use, while the faux leather is

aimed more at kids. (The surface easily wipes
clean.) Instead of a fold-out top, the dinette’s
table is now loose with a foot like that of an
ironing board, which can turn into to a double
bed so that four people can sleep in the Penta.
There is a fire extinguisher near the door
as required by law, but it’s also the face of
a hidden drawer to the left of the dining area.
