oneortwosheetsofnewspaperandfilltoabouttwo-thirds
withfreshgardensoil(aheavyloamisideal–don’tuse
pottingmix)intowhichyou’veblendedsomechicken
manurepellets.Placetherootsononesideinthepot,
ensuringthecrownwillbeabovesoillevel,andfinish
filling.Alayerofsandorpebblesontopwillhelpkeepthe
soilinplaceafterthepothasbeensubmerged.Makesure
yourwaterlilygoesbackintoaspotwhereitgetsplenty
ofsun.Hardytypesofwaterlilyusuallybeginflowering
inmidtolatespring.Tropicaltypescantakeabitlonger,
butwillcontinuebloomingwellintoautumn.
