Carefully open a

your stash under the
plastic cereal bag.
Reseal the box flaps

Secret drywall door
Sometimes the inside of a closet gets
drywalled but doesn’t get taped and
painted. Above the inside of a closet
door, patch in a piece of drywall over
one stud cavity. It’ll look like you were
just using up drywall scraps to finish
out the closet. Don’t mud the joints,
so you can just remove the screws to
get at your stash.
Under attic insulation
A thief would need to be pretty determined to set
up a ladder and crawl into your attic. Underneath
the insulation is a perfect spot for low-profile
items. Keep in mind that attics are often attractive
places for rodents, so this is probably not the best
place for paperwork.
