PORSCHE’S 4.2-LITRE SCREAMER

PORSCHE ALSO used the Goodwood FoS to reveal

its redesigned 911 RSR. The highlights? Porsche

has enlarged its mid-engine flat-six to 4.2 litres,

overhauled its aero and increased the ease of

chassis adjustability. It is at least 95 per cent

new. It’ll debut at the WEC season’s opener at

Silverstone this September.

RENAULT F1 CRASHES OFF-TRACK

THINGS WENT from bad to worse for the Renault F1

team after the German Grand Prix when a service

truck (not containing the racecars) crashed while

driving to the next round in Hungary. This, after both

cars failed to finish the wet race at Hockenheim.

The crash’s cause is not clear but luckily the driver’s

ego was the only thing seriously bruised.

KIA STRIPS STINGER FOR SPEED

KIA MOTORS UK decided to save one ex-press V6

Stinger from the scrap heap and turn the rear-

drive rocket ship into a track car. Inside is barer

than a nudist colony to save 150kg and its 3.3-litre

powerplant has been turned up to 315kW/560Nm

for added thrust. Unfortunately, the ‘GT420’, as it

is called, is a one-off.

of downforce at 280km/h. Stopping is

taken care of by Brembo brakes, with

discs measuring 398mm at the front and

380mm at the rear.

Whether the Roadster BC will make it

to Oz isn’t clear, but we know it won’t be

cheap. A ‘regular’ Huayra Roadster sells

for an eye-watering AUD$5.5 million.
