t seems only yesterday,
that amidst pomp and
ceremony normally
associated with the
declaration of an Oscar
winner, Airfi x unveiled their
next ‘secret' project to an
expectant public at last year’s
IPMS Scale Model World. It
has been around 8 months
from that announcement to the
assessment and now construction
–– partly as we’ll see –– of
their 1:24 Hellcat, the latest in a
relatively long line of über kits from
this famous marque.
Anyone who was there all those
months ago will no doubt have
been amazed at the sheer scale
of this new kit, the levels of detail,
fi nesse and engineering on show
being something hitherto only seen
within the box of their much-vaunted
Typhoon. As fi ne as that earlier kit
was, Airfi x may well have improved
further on what was then achieved,
with a product that is not only their best
ever, but up there with the very fi nest
available elsewhere.We begin our build of the
