O

ne of the things that amazes
me most about this hobby of
ours is the sheer imagination
that you can bring to a build.
Take this month’s feature by Michael Franz,
with his ’could it have been’ Leopold Field
Cannon. These counterfactual, or ‘what if’
ideas always fascinate me, as does
the idea of what might have taken
place had the War not ended in

  1. It’s also both incredible and
frightening at the same time to
    read about the projects Germans
had not only on the drawing
board, but also in protype form!
    Michael’s idea of mounting a
giant cannon of two E-75 tank
chassis is just brilliant, and I
hope you enjoy his build as much
as I have. Also, continuing the ‘what if’
theme, and in reality, something completely
different for SMMI is Snorre Sandviken’s
    Pseudo-Military T-72B, as he adds a unique
twist to the 1:35 Zvezda kit. It was just so
bizarre, I had to include it! Elsewhere we
have a nice ‘British Bulldog’ Achilles build

from Robin Gilby, and a superb DAK Pioneer
figure build from Julian Conde together with
a sublime M40 Italian Semovente from Steve
Eade plus a Special Forces Humvee build
from Dean Cavey. So, I hope you enjoy this
issue of SMMI, and all that remains for me
to say is....

Happy Modelling
