This fortnight’s top new software downloads to help you make

the most of your PC, and they’re all FREE

Locking your screen (by pressing Win+L) is good practice

because it stop s other people accessing your computer whil e

you’re away from it. Eu sing Maze Lock lets you unlock your

PC by drawing a pattern on a grid rather than typing in a

password. You can changethe lock screen’s background

image and the size of th e grid (3x3, 4x4 or 5x5). The program

also lets you lock your PC using a mouse click or a hotkey, or

set it to lock automatically after a period of inactivity.

Searchin g for files in Windows is fairly easy, but NirSoft’s
SearchMyFiles tool is a much more advanced way to do it.
You can search for items using a numberof criteria, including
the ti me they were created, modified or last accessed, their
file attributes, file content (tex t or binary search) and size.
Wildcards have been addedto help your searches, and this
new version can even fi nd text in Microsoft Office documents
and PDFs. It’s now easier to find folders, too.

preview build, which means you
