BRENE BROWN, PH.D.
Brene Brown is a motivational
speaker, emotional intelligence expert,
author and research professor at the
University of Houston, where she holds
the Huffington-Brene Brown Endowed
Chair at The Graduate College of Social
Wo rk.
She has spent the past two decades
studying courage, vulnerability, shame and
empathy, and is the author of five No. 1
New York Times bestsellers: “The Gifts of
Imperfection,” “Daring Greatly,” “Rising
Strong,” “Braving the Wilderness,” and
her latest book, “Dare to Lead,” which is
the culmination of a seven-year study on
courage and leadership.
Brown’s TED talk, “The Power of
Vulnerability,” is one of the top five
most viewed TED talks in the world,
with over 50 million views combined
between TED and YouTube. She is
also the first researcher to have a filmed
talk on Netflix, “The Call
to Courage” special, which
debuted on the streaming
service on April 19, 2019.
Because vulnerability is at the center
of many thoughts, feelings and behaviors,
Brown’s research topics cover a broad
range of emotions and experiences,
including shame, courage and authenticity.
Her ideas can be applied equally to
personal life, work and leadership.
Brown has won numerous teaching
awards, including the College’s
Outstanding Faculty Award. In 2008, she
was named Behavioral Health Scholar-
in-Residence at the Council on Alcohol
and Drugs Houston. Her work has been
featured on PBS, NPR, and the Oprah
and Friends Radio Network, and her
articles have appeared in Self magazine,
Elle magazine, and many national
newspapers. She is also a frequent guest
on radio shows across the U.S. and she has
given two TEDx talks on her vulnerability
research.
CHARLOTTE REZNICK, PH.D.
Charlotte Reznick has dedicated her life
to helping children, adolescents, parents
and professionals. She is a nationally-
recognized child and educational
psychologist and former UCLA Associate
Clinical Professor of Psychology. Upon
earning her Ph.D. in educational
psychology from the University of
Southern California, she was honored
with “Dissertation of the Year” for her
work on the effects of parental divorce on
adolescents.
For over 20 years, Reznick has
pioneered therapeutic interventions with
a wide spectrum of children. Responding
to children’s diverse needs, she is best
known for creating “Imagery For Kids:
Breakthrough for Learning, Creativity,
and Empowerment.” This program
of guided and interactive imagery—
enhanced by music, relaxation techniques,
drawing, and journal writing—can help
children achieve their highest learning
potential, develop self-esteem, heal
internal conflicts, and reduce stress.
Reznick’s audio programs,
“Discovering Your Special Place” and
“Creating a Magical Garden
and Healing Pond,” soothing
guided journeys to inner
peace, have been listened to by young
children, adolescents and adults alike.
These CDs lay the relaxation groundwork
for her Imagery For Kids program, which
Reznick has presented to thousands of
professionals, psychologists, educators,
and parents locally, nationally and
internationally.
Featured on national TV, published
in professional and general journals and
newspapers, Reznick is sought after as
a consultant, counselor, and healer. She
currently maintains a private practice in
Los Angeles as a licensed educational
psychologist.
