Car Craft – November 2019

(C. Jardin) #1
This is the basic Sniper kit, minus all the
hardware. The base kit is $999.95, but
Holley also sells a master kit that includes
everything you’ll need to upgrade your fuel
system. Don’t be concerned by the larger
wiring harnesses. You don’t need to use all
of that unless you are adding a lot of extras
to your system.

The QuadraJet showed up on a fair
number of GM muscle cars back in
the day. Its small primaries promoted
mileage and driveability, but it was
the secondaries that provided the
flow to make the power.

Instead of using small and large
throttle bores with fuel spraying into
them from above, the Sniper has 16
tiny holes that surround each throttle
plate that very effectively fog the fuel
into the airflow. With four 100-lb/hr
injectors running at 58.5 psi, it can
support up to 650 hp but still provide
the precise fuel control needed for
driveability and mileage.

While the Sniper baseplate has a dual
bolt patterned, a spacer is still needed
for the Sniper’s primary throttle plates
to clear the stock manifold. Muscle
Car Restoration (MCR) also found that
the bottom of the throttle linkage
wouldn’t clear the top of the manifold
without the spacer.
