A/F ratios are adjustable for idle, cruise, and
WOT, but the default settings did not need
to be changed for this engine.

With the engine running, the screen
becomes a micro dashboard that allows
you to monitor the system. Once it is
warmed up, the number to check is the IAC
percentage. Its reading should be between
2 and 10 percent.

Because the IAC percentage was a bit high,
the throttle-stop screw is adjusted to open
the throttle slightly.

Right: Opening the throttle allows more
air into the engine so the IAC can close
down to less than 10 percent, allowing
the IAC plenty of room to add air to
prevent the engine from stalling if the
throttle closes quickly.

Below: MCR’s Mustang chassis dyno
allows every system to be closely
monitored during the initial startup and
first few miles of easy cruising. The Sniper
learned very quickly, and after only three
full-power runs, it bested the Q-Jet by
14 hp and 25 lb-ft of torque.

Of course, the Sniper accepts the stock air cleaner. The casual observer would be
hard-pressed to notice there is anything unusual going on under it.

Setup is a simple matter of entering your
engine parameters like displacement, cam,
and ignition type, and desired idle speed
into a 3.5-inch touch-screen.
