of sanding and refilling, just on a smaller scale. The V12 manifold I
made recently was a real mission, and the liveries and logos have
been an ongoing issue, as it’s really hard to get a designer who
will produce a design at an affordable price — because it’s really
no different from making the design for a full-sized vehicle. I was
charged $500 for just one livery that was used on only one model,
which makes the cost insane! That’s the biggest hurdle I’m trying
to get around currently.
What’s next up on the list?
I’m actually about to start on a replica of Hayden Paddon’s AP4
Hyundai i20 rally car, using a custom kit and a few scratch-built
mods on the body as well as a full engine build — I’ll be gifting that
one to Hayden for all his hard work in the sport of rallying. After
that, I’ll replicate Mad Mike’s ‘NIMBUL’ Lamborghini Huracán that
was on the cover of last issue [of NZ Performance Car], as soon as
I can get the livery made up — so watch this space.
Thanks for taking us through the process, Dave.
