Lock comes thanks to Wisefab front
suspension and 18x8-inch Rota wheels
The block is an all-FD affair with CNC stage-two
porting, I-Rotary apex seals, lightened and
balanced FD rotors, and stud kit. Built by Ryan,
the 13B makes 500kW on 29psi in current trim

It’s not like the FD needs more power, even by Ryan’s own
admission, but, really, who is ever going to say no to more power,
right? Putting even the current 500 to the ground is a bit of a struggle,
but boost by gear with a lower 22psi in first and second gear is
employed to get it out of the hole. Another interesting addition are
suspension-travel sensors on the rear shocks to monitor rear squat.
“The sensor reads how much shock movement I’m getting
under throttle. The more grip, the more it will squat, so you know
if it’s not squatting it’s just skating on the surface,” Ryan tells us.
As a result, the XYZ coilovers have been re-valved and
received custom spring rates. It’s this type of wizardry hidden within
that makes the FD a solid performer. Yeah, the kit doesn’t perfectly
fit, and, as the plate suggests, from the outside, at least, it’s a bit of
a RUFCNT, but it’s stupid fast and kills tyres as good as the best.
Despite drifting being the main focus of the build — and Ryan
certainly hasn’t lost the drive to contest another season of D1NZ —
it’s not on the cards due to current life, so track events are the way
that Ryan gets his kicks — he even picked up the coveted King of
REunion back in 2017. These days, driving duty is shared with his
brother Dion, so it’s twice the thrash each event, or just further proof
that Ryan knows how to screw together one hell of an FD! Built to
thrash and built to last!
