What lube shouldIuse?


  1. Dry Lube–thinlubricantthathaslow
    mileage butwon’tbringthetrailhome
    with you.

  2. Wet Lube–thicklubricatethathaslong
    mileage butwillbringthetrailhomewith
    you.

  3. Wax Lube–superthickcreamthatisdry
    to touch. Longlastingbutnottheeasiest
    to clean.


When shouldIbecleaningmydrivetrain?
This will dependonwhatlubricantyouuse
and how oftenyouride.Asignthatyour
drivetrain needsacleanwouldbethat
your chain soundsgrittywhenpedallingor
leaves big blackmarksonyourhandwhen
you touch it.

Can I ride mybikeafterIjustlubricated
it?
Yes and no, mostlubricantsneedtime
to set after beingapplied.Readtheback
of the bottleandseethemanufacturers’
recommendations.Itisgoodpracticeto
lubricate yourchainafteraridenotbefore.

Wash the
chain down
under a tap
and wipe it clean.

Scrub the derailleur
pulley wheels and
chainrings with a
brush, and brush the citrus
degreaser onto the cassette
and give it scrub.

If this isn’t enough, use a chain tool to remove
your chain.

Place the chain
in a container
with degreaser,
shake it vigorously.

Rinse everything with water and wipe dry
with a clean rag then leave to continue to dry.

Refit
your
chain.

Lube the chain with
your favour chain
lube.
