JAMES GULD
HUNTINGTON STATION, NEW YORK
Using scratchbuilt parts, James built one of Hobart’s
Funnies, specialized tanks deployed on D-Day to over-
come obstacles and clear paths. Basing his conversion
on AFV Club’s 1/35 scale Churchill AVRE, he added
scratchbuilt Bangalore rods, a log carpet device, and
wading stacks. After priming it with Vallejo acrylics, he
airbrushed the camouflage with Tamiya colors.

DR. WILLIAM KALMAR
IMLAY CITY, MICHIGAN
Inspired by last year’s 50th anniversary of the Tet
Offensive, William corrected flaws in Dragon’s 1/35
scale M67 flamethrower tank and painted it with
Testors Model Master USMC green over pre-shading
layers. “This M67A2 fought at Hue City in Vietnam —
the red-brown dust is very distinctive,” he says of the
weathering.
