“AFTER selling my ’75 LH Torana back in
2013, I was left with a hole in my heart – and
in my garage. A few years later I was ready
to buy another Torana, but it had to tick all
my boxes: it had to be complete and painted,
have a 308 and be tubbed. So I was so happy
when I found this one built by Paul Laidlaw.
It was perfect, with a tough 308 assembled
with all the usual good bits like MSD ignition,
Stripmaster single-plane manifold, 288 cam
and custom Extreme Engineering exhaust. It
makes all the right noises. The Trimatic gearbox
is holding up well and transfers power to a
nine-inch diff that currently holds eight-inch
rims and 235 ET Street radials, but I can fit 275
rubber under there if required in the future. I
enjoy weekend cruising, car club events, taking
it to Powercruise and racing in the Kenda
radial meets. Plans in the future include fitting
a towbar and trailer for Street Machine Drag
Challenge.” Photos: Steve Kelly
