BLESSED EVENT
HEY guys, I’m just chilling here and relaxing after
an awesome morning at the Cars & Coffee event,
hosted by Melbourne Old School Cruisers and
with special thanks to GraysOnline for providing
the venue. These sorts of suppliers and sponsors
backing events like this and the car clubs willing
to put great people out there to manage the event
shows how much they care for the car culture
in this country. We need to encourage other
places and clubs to get on board in a similar
fashion – without everyone sacrificing their free
time over the weekend, none of this would’ve
been possible. To all that helped, I say thanks,
and bring on the next one!
I can’t believe you’ve made it to 100,000
YouTube subscribers! I think Gus was right on
the live feed – I think they may have all turned up
at the event with the amount of cars that were
there.
Here are some pics I was able to take (above).
It’s not much, but every bit helps to try and get
more people to get out there and enjoy their ride,
no matter how weird or wacky it is.
To all the staff members of Street Machine and
Bauer Media who were at the event, you guys just
keep doing what you’re doing!

EXTRA CHARGE
I HAVE a 1.6-litre 1991 NA Mazda MX-5. I’ve
been told that the motor has been rebuilt, and
it runs quite well apart from the little bit of
hesitation at initial throttle. I just bought the car
but haven’t got it roadworthy yet. I’m thinking
about upgrading the 1.6-litre to a 3.8-litre L67
with the supercharger; I’ve seen a couple of
these online second-hand for $1500-$1700 and
around 250,000 kays on them. You guys have all
the wisdom when it comes to modifying cars; is
this a good idea or not?
I understand that I’d have to modify the firewall
plenum chamber where air comes into the interior
of the car, because the supercharger throttlebody
intrudes into that area.
Let me know what you think!

G’DAY James, I don’t know about wisdom, but
we have enthusiasm! There have been stacks
of LS1 conversions into early MX-5s done, so
the L67 should be no problem provided you
are handy with wiring and fabrication. Getting
engineering approval is another matter, but
you always have the option of building an
unregistered track car for fun. – Telfo
STATE OF ORIGIN
I WOULD love to see you guys from Carnage
do a cheap car challenge against the guys from
Mighty Car Mods. Kinda like a Melbourne versus
Sydney battle of the states. Let’s see who can
be the best of the Aussie YouTube mod scene!
Who else would love to see this?
