(Tina Sui) #1
■ Anna’s hit with shock-
ing news when she tells Kate
and Roman that she’s back
in Salem to put Tony’s ashes
to rest in the DiMera mau-
soleum: Her “late” husband
is alive — and married to
Nicole.
“Anna’s been running
around for 10 years mourn-
ing Tony, so her reaction is
split,” sets up her portrayer,
Leann Hunley. “There’s
relief that he might be alive,
then the outright anger of,
‘What kind of fool have I
been that he’s been alive
all this time and I had no
idea?’ That means he didn’t
love her the way he said he
did, and that everything was
based on a lie. It’s a rejec-
tion for her, and it hurts like
heck.”
The kicker, that Tony’s
now wed to Nicole, only
intensifies Anna’s anger.
“Anna has had her moments
with Nicole,” says Hunley.
“So for Tony to ‘go with the
enemy,’ so to speak, is a sec-
ond betrayal.”
While Anna tries to digest
the information, Tony can’t
believe Kristen won’t let
him get in touch with the
love of his life after all he did

for her. But he backs down
when he realizes Kristen will
kill Anna if he doesn’t coop-
erate. A furious Tony storms
off and ends up coming face
to face with Anna. “Let’s
just say things get a little
physical,” teases Hunley.
“Anna’s had time to build
up her anger, resentment and
hurt from when she heard
Tony was alive to when she
runs into him. And she takes
it out on him. She doesn’t
know where he’s been. She
doesn’t know that he was
unable to get together with
her. He flags her off for her
own good, but she doesn’t
know any of that.”
Anna wants Tony to
divorce Nicole, “but he
can’t,” notes Hunley. “She
continues to badger him
because she can’t understand
why. She’s so shocked by
this. She’s so fueled by anger
that it’s blind. It puts her in
her place and sets her back
on her heels. She needs a little
time to recover, to get her

equilibrium back.”
Anna runs off and seeks
comfort from Roman and
Marlena. After, Marlena
heads to see Tony and con-
vinces him to follow his
heart. However, by the time
Tony approaches Anna, she’s
already come up with a plan
of her own. “What’s good for
the goose is good for the gan-
der,” muses Hunley. “Anna
tells Tony, it’s too late. She’s
marrying Roman.”
Tony is aghast, while
Roman reluctantly plays
along. “Roman has a soft
spot for Anna, and she uses
it,” Hunley says. But her
ultimate goal is to be with
Tony again. “Anna hasn’t
spent 10 years of her life
mourning this man to give
him up in one or two days’
time and to let this go by
lightly,” sums up Hunley.
“She’s all in. She’s going to
push this to the point that she
can find out if Tony has any
feelings for her. She needs
to know.”
