(Tina Sui) #1
After hearing that Adam told Christian
he is his biological father, Victor informs
Nick that he’s not sitting on the sidelines
anymore. “Victor feels he has given Adam
and Nick enough time to resolve their dif-
ferences on their own,” says Head Writer
Josh Griffith. “Victor is concerned that the
drama surrounding Christian’s paternity
will have a damaging effect on his grand-
son. Victor also thinks Adam is using the
custody battle as a way to punish Nick, and
it will ultimately hurt Christian the most.”
Later, Adam receives a court order that
he is no longer entitled to visit Christian.
“This situation brings up unresolved
issues from Adam’s childhood of feeling
abandoned by Victor, which led to Adam
feeling like an outcast,” Griffith explains.
“He truly loves his sons and does not want
a fractured relationship with them like he
has with his dad. Victor’s involvement in
the custody battle will anger Adam and
cause the rift in the Newman family to take
a very dangerous turn that no one will see
coming.”

After being exposed for aiding in the
baby Beth cover-up, Thomas leaves his
wife and son and goes into hiding with
his pal Vincent. “Thomas really screwed
things up by doing what he thought was
the right thing,” sighs portrayer Matthew
Atkinson. “This is a major hit on his life,
and he is in a really negative mind-set. He
was just trying to create a family different
than the dysfunctional one he grew up with,
and that all blew up in his face. He’s on a
very dark path right now.”
Despite his dire circumstances, Atkinson
believes that Thomas can be redeemed.
“Thomas has a lot of issues,” Atkinson
states. “But he has never sought help for
them, and obviously he needs that. His
mother [shrink Taylor] should be able to
help him, but he doesn’t go to anyone for
help. I do think there’s a light at the end
of the tunnel for Thomas, but the question
right now is, how deep into that dark tunnel
is he going to go before he can come out
on the other side? He has a lot of making
up to do.”
