T

he idea behind the MC Stradale

was to apply the Porsche 911 GT3

treatment to a Gran Turismo. So

the rear seats were removed and

the front ones replaced with carbon units,

giving it a 110kg weight saving, though at

1770kg it was no lightweight cup racer –

more grand porker than grand prix.

That didn’t matter, though, when you

turned over the bored, tuned, freer-

breathing 4.7-litre naturally aspirated V8

beneath the bonnet. It’s one of the most

evocative soundtracks you’ll ever hear

away from a racetrack.

And it has the looks to match its

bite. The car we found is also in Bruce

Wayne-spec with black paint, black

alloys and yellow calipers. Combine

those elements with the aggressive

front fascia, race-spec rear diffuser and

Alcantara-dipped interior and you’re left

with pure visual heroin.

Yet while looking at it is enough to

keep you entertained, the most attractive

prospect about this car is its price, which

is $160,000 less than brand new.

2009 HSV Walkinshaw Super Tourer

RIGHT now the most powerful HSV

wagon is the R8 Tourer, and its

340kW will set you back $76,490.

However if you’re into modifi ed cars,

go for this Walkinshaw-tuned family

hauler to save 15-odd grand and gain

a hilarious amount of power in the

process. This Tourer has been re-

tuned to 402kW. At the wheels.

Its LS3 6.2-litre atmo V8 has been

stroked to a beefy 6.8 litres and fi tted

with serious pistons, headwork and a

massive Walkinshaw supercharger. It’s

been given a godly note too, thanks

to a cat-back stainless-steel exhaust

system. Keeping it on the road are

adjustable Koni shocks and a set of

new 295/35 R20 tyres that, according

to the seller, means it “doesn’t go

sideways at 100km/h anymore”. If

you’re a bit nuts, and often have a
