Located on Malaysia’s northwest coast,
Langkawi is a captivating tropical paradise
enveloped by a natural wonderland, inclusive
of rock formations, mountainous rainforests,
desert islands and the Unesco World Geopark.
By combining the very best in a luxury resort,
and a coveted beachfront setting, the private
beach beckons active pursuits both by land
and sea.
Situated on a 48-acre property, the
resort strikes a contemporary design that
incorporates the elements of nature and
modernity. Crafted under the careful hands
of cutting-edge designer Bill Bensley, who
employed a colour scheme of earthy tones
with a palette of bold and vibrant blues
that accentuates the backdrop of beaches,
rainforest and cliffs, the concept was to
create a vibrant yet tranquil setting to
explore the botanical abundance of the
island, and the harmonising elemental
energies of yoga and meditation.
Arriving at this secluded oasis, a Malay-
style welcome pavilion positioned at the
heart of the frangipani-lined pond greets
guests as they enter, which is furnished with
an antique boat. From there, guests can
make their way to their room, a Malay-style
pavilion that refl ects the same theme of
Bensley’s modern eclectic design. The airy
rooms feature varying shades of blue, bespoke
artworks, revived teak fl oors and antique
mirror inlays, while providing guests with a
fresh and stylish sanctuary.

Overfl owing with the essence of serenity,
the restaurants fi nd the same resonance
as the other corners of the retreat. From
traditional Malay cuisine to candlelit dinners,
this paradise resort has everything under
one roof. For a toes-in-the-sand beach grill
restaurant, Kelapa Grill is the place to be for
fresh local seafood and fl ame-grilled delights,
while the Mediterranean restaurant Serai
is a casual breakfast spot for uninterrupted
views of the Andaman sea. The ultimate
dining experience, however, lies at Ikan Ikan
which serves traditional Malaysian cuisine
with breathtaking, calming views from its
beachfront pavilion. To cap off the night the
ever-popular Rhu Bar offers a chic Middle
Eastern-inspired island lounge that is easy on
the eyes and soothes dry throats.
There is so much to do here, but the crown
jewel of the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi
remains with the Geo Spa, or simply known
as The Spa. Boasting six fl oating, secluded
thatched-roof pavilions with fl oor-to-ceiling
windows and outdoor rain showers, guests
can delight themselves amid a backdrop of
the Geopark. Set along forested limestone
cliffs and refl ecting ponds, the Geo Spa
is a haven drawing on the energies of
the surrounding area, with the walls and
furnishings in the spa taking on the natural
hues of soothing sage green and beige to
mirror the serenity of Mother Nature.
