What does sustainability mean to you?

Keeping

the Balance

TISHTI SUMITRA
General manager of Thai Airways International
for Malaysia and Brunei

We practise sustainability in our very own offi ce;
whenever we change the equipment such as the
computers to newer devices, we would donate the
old ones to schools like the Sri Kota Secondary
School in Taiping. The airline also incorporates
the ‘travel green’ concept—ensuring our aircraft use
just the right amount of fuel, have minimal carbon
emissions and produces less noise pollution.

“Personally, I encourage
sustainability among my staff.
We support them in various
ways to expand their training
and learning so they can best
contribute to the airline.”

Director of Business Management Systems at Mandarin Oriental KL

Everyone in our organisation must make the right
choices to ensure that our ecosystems continue to
support life and provide enough resources to meet
the needs of the current and future generations.

“Whenever we talk to our colleagues about
being sustainable, we break it down into
small digestible chunks so they can fully
understand and appreciate how their
actions can make a difference to a
sustainable environment.”

This refl ects the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s
principles of ‘Making a Difference Every Day’
and ‘Acting with Responsibility.’
